Christy Poinsettia MA
Born and raised in Hong Kong, Christy Poinsettia(MA Man Huen) graduated at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, majoring in Contemporary Dance.
Joined Guangdong Modern Dance Company in 2018. She received varies scholarships during her study which has given her the opportunities to join lots of dance festivals around the world, namely Impulstanz, American Dance Festival, Beijing Dance Festival.
She has been involved in various performances with well known choreographers, including Ahn Aesoon(Korea), Ismael Ivo(Brazil), Li Yongjing(Hong Kong), Gabrielle Nankivell(Austrailia), Christine Gouzelis(Greece), Gregory Maqoma(South Africa), John Utans(Australia), Laura Aris Alvarez(Spain), Jun Mabaquiao(The Philippines). She has also performed Echad Mi Yodea by Ohad Naharin in the academy, Imagination Boom 2 by East-side Dance Company and City Contemporary Dance Company’s WuDaoQingNian 2013. Christy was also the leading character in Hong Kong Repertory Theatre’s school tour production. She has recently performed in Felix Ke’s “White Noise” in Dance Off of the Jockey Club Contemporary Dance Series in the 46th Hong Kong Arts Festival
Her passion in dance extended from performing to choreography, she has choreographed Catch/Entropy/22 in the academy and her recent collaborated choreography In The Amorphous Beings is premiered in Georgetown Festival 2017.
Christy’s motivation for performance comes from observing and participating in different forms of theatre and discovering how the physical body can speak one’s mind when words are not enough.
